Process of Implementation
The project began with internal preparation works and measurement checks to confirm head height, access positioning, and layout options. A staircase location was agreed to ensure smooth connection between existing floors and the new attic space.
Structural floor upgrades were carried out to support the new room, followed by construction of the staircase and internal framing. Care was taken to align the staircase with existing circulation routes to minimise disruption to the lower floors.
Once access was established, insulation, plasterboarding, and surface preparation were completed to form a comfortable and usable living area. Works were sequenced to keep the property functional throughout the build.
Overcoming Challenges
The main challenge was integrating a new staircase within limited internal space without impacting existing rooms. This was managed through careful layout planning and precise installation to maintain clear access and compliance.
Project Outcome
The attic conversion was completed successfully, creating valuable additional living space with safe, practical access. The finished area blends seamlessly with the rest of the home, and the client was pleased with the functionality, finish, and overall delivery.
