Process of Implementation
The project began with detailed preparation works, including access setup and protection of existing living areas. Structural calculations were followed to install steel beams required to support the new floor structure and roof loads.
Once the steel framework was secured, new floor joists were installed and insulation works carried out to meet thermal and acoustic requirements. Internal framing was then completed to define the new room layout.
Final stages included plasterboarding and surface preparation, creating a clean, usable internal space ready for finishing. All works were coordinated to minimise disruption to the occupied property below.
Overcoming Challenges
A key challenge was installing structural steel within restricted roof space while maintaining safe access and protecting existing finishes. This was managed through precise planning, controlled lifting, and careful sequencing of works.
Project Outcome
The loft conversion was completed successfully, delivering a structurally sound and well-insulated room that added valuable living space to the property. The client was pleased with the workmanship, organisation, and overall transformation of the unused loft area.
